Independent Rental Owner

What is an Independent Rental Owner (IRO)?
An Independent Rental Owner (IRO) or prospective member owns or manages a small number of rental properties, and is actively involved, from an ownership perspective, in the management of properties. Typically, these properties are defined as having a small number of rental units at any single location. These smaller-sized properties generally require a unique property management style, as opposed to the management style used for properties of larger-sized companies.  As  a result, AASC offers a variety of benefits designed especially for the IRO member.

Why Do IRO Members Join?

Dana Lowry, Past President of AASC and longtime IRO member, put it this way, "I joined because you don't know what you don't know".  I think Dana's right on with his analogy.  Many IRO members come from other industries and most have never managed rental properties.  Membership offers many resources on how to properly manage a successful rental property.

Membership in AASC automatically makes you a member of the Colorado Apartment Association (CAA) and the National Apartment Association (NAA). 

AASC offers special meetings for IRO members only.

Quarterly meetings are scheduled for IRO members only.  These meetings are held in the evening from 6-7 p.m. because many IRO members work full time jobs.

Lease Contracts and Forms are an importan benefit of membership.
